ABOUT ME
Year 3 and Year 4 sessions commence from early September and run until mid-July. All sessions are held once a week
during term time. They are one hour long, with a maximum of 4 children at a cost of £25 per session.
(1:1 will cost £30 per session) – Year 2 can be catered for on request.
I cover a variety of subjects; English/Literacy, Maths/Numeracy, reading and comprehension. Sessions are aimed at
getting children to boost their subject knowledge and skills. I believe that they must enjoy their learning without
finding it too highly pressured. The aim is for them to gain more confidence in different subject areas and achieve
better results in school.
Reading:
The goal is to get them to start reading more carefully and retaining what they have read. I will focus on a variety of
reading and comprehension skills such as: word recognition and vocabulary work, retrieving information from the
chapters, drawing inference and deduction from the text read. Children may be given chapters to take home and are
expected to read independently or with an adult for which I will have questions prepared at our next session.
Writing:
I will support them in learning and improving their spelling and help them to use them in context. I will teach them
grammar and they will be able to use those skills in context of different genres of writing. Children will learn how to
construct simple, compound and complex sentences. They will be taught how to use subordinate clauses, adverbial
phrases and high-level punctuation to make their writing more interesting for the readers.
Maths:
I will assess them at the beginning of 6 weeks and set them targets to work on. Alternatively, parents can advise me
based on children’s school report or notes from their class teacher. Children will be taught a variety of maths topics
including number and algebra, shape and space, fractions and percentages and all maths topics they are required to
cover in KS2 curriculum.
YEAR 3 & 4 TUTORING
My year 5 and Year 6 sessions run once a week during term time. These sessions are an hour and a quarter
long, with a maximum of 4 children and cost of £30 per session. Children attending will want to improve
their results in school or who have an intention of sitting selective school exams. All of the above subjects
will be taught for Year 5/6 children (1:1 sessions will be run at a cost of £35 per session). In the Spring term, I
will go through some SATs style questions to prepare them for their end of key stage SATs.
